We’re a small team and we’ve worked hard to deliver the best bang for buck we possibly could with NBA Playgrounds. We took arcade 2v2 basketball back from the dead and we crammed as much fun into a $20 game as humanly possible.

Right away, you let us know what you wanted – what our launch was missing. So we improved. We added friends, online tournaments, reworked shot mechanics, new players, and endless performance and balance changes. We’re committed to making the game better and better. And we’re already working on the next round of feedback.

But for our Switch players, still awaiting online play – and believe us, it’s coming soon – we can do more. Our Nintendo fans were left without online play and though the fix is done and going through the final motions, we can still do something nice. Something big. Something free.

It’s good to be independent because no one sense checks our crazy when we look to reward a portion of our supportive, patient playerbase with something truly insane, like a free game. It’s with tremendous thanks and appreciation to our Nintendo fans who are still waiting online play that we offer you an entirely new game absolutely free. That’s right, we’re giving away a copy of Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn for Switch to every Nintendo NBA Playgrounds player who has been patiently awaiting the first patch.

Please note that restrictions do apply. We are still working with our partners to determine exactly how NBA Playgrounds players will receive their free copy of Shaq Fu when it releases this Fall, but if you bought or buy in to NBA Playgrounds before the patch hits, you’re getting a free copy of Shaq Fu. Wenn ich so an das alte Shaq Fu denke ist das wohl eher einer Bestrafung als eine Belohnung.

Wichtiger als der Onlinemodus wäre mir die Verbesserung der Ladezeiten.

Nintendo has delayed the launch of the paid online service for Switch from its previously planned fall launch to 2018.

Additionally, the company announced that paid online subscribers will now get access to a “Classic Game Selection”—“a compilation of classic titles with added online play, such as Super Mario Bros. 3, Balloon Fight, and Dr. Mario—rather than a single Virtual Console game as previously announced.

Speaking to Kotaku, Nintendo said users will be able to download and play as many of the games in the classic library as they want as often as they like, as long as they have an active subscription. Speaking to IGN, Nintendo said the library will include NES games at launch, and that Super NES games are under consideration, but that there is nothing to announce at this time.

In addition to online gameplay access and the classic game library, the paid online service for Switch also includes access to the online lobby and voice chat smartphone app and Nintendo eShop deals.

Until the paid service launches in 2018, online gameplay will remain free. When the service does launch, pricing will be as follows:

  • One-month Membership – $3.99
  • Three-month Membership – $7.99
  • 12-Month Membership – $19.99
More information about Nintendo’s online service will be announced “later this year.”

Das klingt doch schonmal viel besser als was ursprünglich angekündigt wurde. $20 pro Jahr finde ich auch völlig ok.

Ja, es ist ein offiziell lizenziertes Zubehör von Hori. Aber das ändert ja nichts daran, dass es technisch nicht anders gelöst werden kann, da Nintendo über Switch direkt keine Headsets unterstützt. Man braucht zwangsläufig einen Splitter zwischen Switch und Smartphone, um sowohl Spiel-Sound (nur über Switch) als auch Voice-Chat (nur über Smartphone-App) zu unterstützen.
